Who we are
This website, vitraena.is, is operated by Vitræna ehf., a private limited company registered in Iceland under registry ID (kennitala) 700626-1640. For the purposes of the GDPR and the Icelandic Act on Data Protection and the Processing of Personal Data No. 90/2018, Vitræna ehf. is the data controller for this website.
The short version
This is a plain informational website. We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not sell or share personal data with anyone for their own purposes.
Cookies and storage
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Which language you are reading is simply part of the address.
Server logs
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. As with any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data on our behalf — including IP address, timestamp, requested URL and browser user-agent string — in order to serve the site, protect it from abuse, and produce aggregate traffic counts. We use this only for security and operational purposes. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it.
Cloudflare acts as our data processor. Details of its practices are published at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
If you email us
When you write to us we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it to answer you and, if we go on to work together, to administer that relationship. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and performance of a contract where one follows.
Our email is hosted by Google Workspace, which processes the message on our behalf. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for the relationship it concerns, and delete enquiries that do not lead anywhere within two years.
Transfers outside the EEA
Cloudflare and Google are United States companies and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Both provide for such transfers under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and related safeguards.
Torrex
Torrex, our streaming app, has its own privacy policy, published on torrex.tv. In short: it collects anonymous usage statistics to find crashes and slow starts, and you can turn that off in its settings.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and Act No. 90/2018 you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our processing of it, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email hakon@vitraena.is. We will respond within one month.
If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you may lodge a complaint with the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd), personuvernd.is.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
