Torrex
Movies and shows, streamed to your computer, phone or TV. Playback starts within seconds, and there's no subscription.
What it took
Plays from the first pieces
Video streams over BitTorrent and starts playing as soon as the opening pieces arrive, instead of after the whole file is downloaded.
Signed and packaged for every platform
A code-signed Windows installer, a notarised macOS app, AppImage, .deb and .rpm for Linux, and a separate app for Fire TV and Android TV.
Tested before every release
About 1,700 frontend tests and a Rust test suite have to pass before a version ships.
Updates itself
A built-in updater delivers new versions, with a public release history.
Content and responsibility
Torrex is a client application. It does not host, index, provide or distribute any media. It plays what the person using it chooses to open, in the same way a web browser displays the page you point it at.
Users are responsible for holding the necessary rights to any material they access, and for complying with the law where they live. Vitræna ehf. does not condone infringement of copyright.
